FAB Friday FREE Kitchen Printables – Diva Gift Tags

This week, we have two “In the Kitchen” Printable designs for you that can be used as canning tags or labels, OR gift tags for holidays and parties.

These free printable tags are 2 inches round, and come 6 each on one sheet.  The download is in a PDF format file.  Just download, print, and then cut.  (We recommend a circle punch, like THIS ONE, but scissors work too!  Punches are low cost and once you have one you’ll find zillions of reasons to use it).

You can punch a hole and add tags to your a gift or favors with string or ribbon.  If you decide to print them on STICKER paper, these will make great seals for jar lids or even as seals baked goodies.

You can download the file HERE.

Theme Thursday – Red and White Weddings & Parties

We started a new series last week, called Theme Thursday, with a tribute to yellow and gray.  THIS week we are celebrating Red and White together.  Birthday parties, bridal showers, and even weddings – red and white as a theme is hot, hot HOT!

To get us started off with a bang, check out this post from the Ruffled blog – a vintage red and white and black wedding:

And Pacific Weddings shares an INCREDIBLE red and white butterfly theme wedding… scroll through the photos and read their description of how this was styled.  The red bridal bouquet is gorgeous and the little touches of black and red throughout the celebration are knock-out!

I know we haven’t even gotten through Halloween yet, but it’s never too early to start thinking about the Christmas and winter holidays.  From the Hostess blog, a lovely and joyful red and white holiday tablescape for inspiration:

I went back to Living Locurto once again, because she has fabulous printables for $15.95 that are so gorgeous, I had to share!

And finally, from Kara’s Party Ideas, a lovely red and white bridal shower.  Lots of great ideas for pulling reds and whites together… love it!

For more fab pictures and inspiration for red and white parties, go to and type in, for example:

  • red and white wedding cakes (or ‘red and white cakes’)
  • red and white decorations
  • red and white bouquet

What other ways could you use reds and whites together?  We’d love to hear your ideas!

Halloween Party Planning

It’s that time of year!  The weather begins to cool, the children go back to school… and the Halloween party planning begins!  My kids are talking their costumes and are thinking about witches and ghouls and zombies… and I’m thinking butterflies and action heroes.  We may have some heated discussions before we are through!

Anyway! I have some great Halloween party ideas for you today, and I will follow up next week with some more.  Ready??  Here we go!

First, from the Hostess blog, a STUNNING Black Cat Ball – such a beautiful, glamorous FUN way to celebrate a kids or adult Halloween party.  As always, scroll through the amazing photos, get inspired by the styling, and check out the credits and details at the end for tips on how to do something similar.

From Anders Ruff, an incredibly GLAM Halloween party collection – all downloadable/printable – makes party planning EASY!  These are not free Halloween printables, but they are inexpensive and I thought they were worth sharing!

How about some specific tutorials for Halloween party food?  From The Girl Who Ate Everything, some incredibly fun (and easy) DRACULA DENTURES.  My boys LOVE this idea!

From our favorite cookie maker, Sugar Belle, comes a unique idea… Pumpkin Pops, made SUPER easy with suckers and icing!

Better Homes and Gardens has a series of great Halloween party games for kids but I think some are great for adults too.  I think this “Guess How Many Candy Corn” may be my favorite one, just for ease of putting together and ease of “playing the game”.

And Martha’s Stewart’s “Pop The Balloon” Game is sweet perfection – easy to set up, and FUN for the kiddos!

There are SO many, many ideas out there, I may just have to write a second (or third) post about Halloween party planning!  Are YOU getting ready for a Halloween event?  We’d love to hear about it!

Tiffany & Co Inspired Parties

There is not much that says DIVA and CLASSIC and like a Tiffany & Co themed event.  Bridal shower, birthday party, and even baby shower – the iconic Tiffany blue creates a stunning look.  We have talked about it before HERE… and I have even more inspiration to share with you today, and some fabulous new Tiffany products in the Diva Entertains shop!

The Tiffany inspired party is centered around two things – the Tiffany blue.. and the Tiffany box with white ribbon.   Oh, actually.. THREE things – the Tiffany blue, the Tiffany box with white ribbon, and BLING!  So, thinking about those three things I’ve got cakes, cookies, favors and more…

From Valerie Elizabeth Confections comes a fab cake inspiration – box with ribbon cake.. AND cupcakes (and see the bling?)

Check out this amazing cupcake stand, created for a Sweet 16 Tiffany party, from Life in Wonderland/Hatter and Hare events.  You can see some adorable photos from the party in THIS POST.

I’m not sure anything screams DIVA more than Tiffany Blue AND Zebra together… check out this party from Smarty Had a Party.  At the end of the post are the “styling notes” to help design your own similar event.

A few great photos from a 30th birthday party, from Coast to Coast weddings:

Shrimp Piccata

Looking for a fabulous lemon shrimp pasta recipe?  This is it!  It bursts with fresh flavors (lemon, sundried tomatoes, parsley) and is really quite easy to make.  It’s also wonderful if you also add scallops to the recipe.

They key to making this dish a simple undertaking is to have all the prep work done prior to cooking (have the capers, tomato, parsley, etc. measured and ready to add to the recipe).

Shrimp Piccata

  • 2 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 4 Tbsp. unsalted butter, divided
  • 1/8 tsp. red pepper flakes
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 1/2 lbs medium shrimp, peeled, deveined
  • 1/2 cup white wine
  • 1 (8 oz.) bottle of clam juice
  • 3 Tbsp. of lemon juice
  • 2 tsp. lemon zest
  • 3 Tbsp. drained, small capers
  • 1/3 cup diced, drained oil packed sun-dried tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup (at least) fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 lb. linguine
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • grated Parmesan cheese to pass around the table
  1. Bring 4 quarts of water to boil in a large pot for cooking the pasta.  Cook the pasta according to package directions.
  2. Meanwhile, heat 1 Tbsp. of the olive oil and 1 Tbsp. of the butter in a large skillet over med-high heat.  Once melted and pan is hot, add garlic and red pepper flakes and cook for 15 seconds over high heat.  Add shrimp and cook, stirring occasionally, until just opaque, about 1-3 minutes (depends on size of shrimp and how hot your pan is).  Remove shrimp to large plate.
  3. Add wine to the pan and increase the heat to high.  Simmer until liquid is reduced and syrupy, about 2 minutes.  Add clam juice and lemon juice, bring them to a boil, and then cook until mixture is reduced to about 1/3 cup, about 8 minutes.
  4. Drain pasta (reserving 1 cup of liquid if needed) and return pasta to the pot.  Add shrimp to clam juice mixture for about 30 seconds, then pour contents over  pasta.  Add the capers, sun-dried tomatoes, parsley and lemon zest, mix gently to combine.  Add remaining 3 Tbsp. of butter in three portions.  If still too dry, add reserved cooking liquid, 1 Tbsp. at a time, as needed.  Season with salt and pepper.  Plate and serve with grated cheese to pass.

Theme Thursday – a Yellow and Gray Wedding

One of my most favorite things to do when reading other party and entertainment blogs is to “collect themes”.  It is fascinating to me the color combinations and ideas that are out there for parties, and especially for weddings.  With that idea in mind, I thought we’d share themes on Thursdays for the next few weeks.

Today’s theme?  Yellow and Gray!  Sleek modern gray, coupled with sweet soft yellow.  What a fabulous combination for wedding colors, don’t you think?  Ok, don’t take MY word for it… check out the inspiration I have for you…

From Style Me Pretty, some gorgeous eye-candy full of yellows and grays:

Seriously… look at this table setting!  Love how something so small as a single flower stem elevates the look to something so beautiful and special.

From, another fabulous array of yellow and gray.  I’m in LOVE with these yellow wedding shoes! She shares so many lovely little touches such as bud vases, unique place cards, yellow striped straws and more.

From the Hostess blog, a stunning, jaw-droppingly gorgeous yellow and gray dessert table.

And for the DIY’ers, check out this post about making a celebration banner… in yellow and gray, of course!

For further *FAB* inspiration pictures, ideas and sources go to and type in what you are interested in learning about, such as:

  • yellow and gray wedding cakes
  • yellow and gray invitations
  • yellow and gray wedding centerpieces

Are you planning a wedding, and have a fun color combination theme we should check out?  We’d love to hear about it!

Camping Parties

A couple of weeks ago, we posted about Glam-ping Parties – which are a combination of GLAM and CAMPING… you can read THAT post HERE.  Today’s post is strictly CAMPING.  Not much glam, but lots of fun (for boys AND girls).

From And Everything Sweet, you have to check out this backyard birthday camping party… complete with individual tents and camp sites.  There is a tiny bit of glam in this party (oops, sorry!), mostly because it’s a girl’s camping playdate… but there is plenty to ooh and ahh over in camping style.  Check out her easy S’mores Pops!

Moore Minutes shares a “Classic Boy” camping party.  I love, love all the detail in this post – from her “setting the scene” to menu planning.. to the dessert bar.  LOTS of inspiration and ideas! Check out her great camping birthday cake!

From the Hostess Blog comes “Camp Luke”, a camping inspired birthday party.  You will not believe all the details in the photos… and be sure to scroll to the end for tips and specifics about how the party was themed.  Wait til you see the camp cookies – beautiful!

And finally, from MaryJanes and Galoshes, and very rustic looking (and FAB looking) camping party.  The post is FULL of details and how-tos… and stunning photos too!

Shoes, Shoes and MORE Shoes!

One of our most FAVORITE kind of Diva… is the SHOE Diva!  We have an entire section in the Diva Entertains shop JUST for shoe favors, and we love to cater to the fancy, glam whims of our shoe divas, however we can.  I was surfing blogs the other night (as I do almost EVERY night), and I found some fun shoe-themed inspiration that I just had to share.

First, from Then I Got To Thinking, check out the fab shower thrown for a true SHOE DIVA.  Great ideas for favors and gifts in this post!

I have seen some incredible cake designs, but I’m not sure there are many that can top THIS shoe birthday cake, from Elite Cake Designs.  Wouldn’t you love to serve this at your shoe theme party?

I do have to say that this shoe cake designed by Truly Custom Cakery, found on Cakes Decor, could give it a run for it’s money:

Did you know you can find MORE fabulous cake ideas if you do a search using It’s a fun way to find a cake design that might work for your event.  Type in “stiletto cake”  or “high heel cake”, and see what comes up!

Now, you know we can’t forget the brand new, up and coming shoe divas either!  Check out this “Baby Shoe Shower” post on Anders Ruff.  Not QUITE the glam shoe.. yet!  But, a girl has to start somewhere, right? The baby show cookies are absolutely adorable!

As I mentioned earlier, we like to cater to our shoe diva friends.  Here are a few of the items you’ll find in the Diva Entertains shop, if you are looking to plan a shoe-themed party:

Stiletto Favor Boxes | Stiletto Candy WrappersStiletto Cake Toppers
Shoe Cookies | Stiletto Mini Votives | Stiletto Shoe Wine Stoppers

And did you know we even offer stiletto invitations?  These can be customized specifically for your event!

Are you ready to slip on some heels… and party a night away??

Tagliatelle Pasta with Sausage, Red Peppers and Arugula

Italian Sausage Pasta Recipe

The combination of flavors in this sausage pasta recipe are a wonderful marriage: interesting and balanced.   As a bonus it is super easy to pull together for a fast weeknight dinner or as elegant company dish.

To consider if making this dish:

    • Although the original recipe calls for fresh tagliatelle, either fresh or dried works beautifully.  As does fettucini or even spaghetti.  I always go for the wider pasta while my husband prefers thin (I usually win out:)
    • Not a fan of spicy argula?  Baby spinach is a great substitute.
    • The 1/2 cup of heavy cream makes for a luscious mouthfeel.   But if you are trying to cut fat and calories you can substitute with 1/4 cup of pasta water (make sure you reserve from as you drain).
