Theme Thursday – Silver and Gold

I used to think I was a little weird because I loved the combination of silver AND gold together, but I’ve since realized I’m not the only one.  (I’m know I’m weird for other reasons, but we won’t go there).  Today I bring you inspiration ala “Silver and Gold”… because really, you can never have enough sparkle!

From Style at Home, a lovely idea for table centerpieces… with silver and gold.  (And yes, I realize they discuss it as a holiday option, but I do think these would be perfect ANY time of year for wedding reception centerpieces).

Here is a lovely silver wedding cake from Love Wed Bliss, that I think would be FAB with a touch of gold… maybe with the flower or with one of discs?

And even Martha Stewart agrees with me about silver and gold… check out an entire show dedicated to using the lovely metals for your party:

Purses and Bags and Totes, oh my!

If you are planning a bachelorette party or birthday party or.. well, any get together where women are involved, you can bet that a “purse” theme would go over BIG!  I’ve got some fun and fab ideas that all include purses in one way or another!

First, from one of our recent customers, we received this fabulous photo of our Cork Purse Centerpiece.  They used these at a bachelorette party, and our customer’s note said, “Over 100 guests (all women) admired the purse cork cages!”

From Parenting.com, an adorable how to make a Purse Cake tutorial that could also be “glammed” up, with rhinestones, edible glitter, and more.  The flowers are made by cutting marshmallows up, the zipper are M & Ms, and the handle is a Tootsie Roll.  So clever!

From Hand Stamped by Lacey, some adorable purse party favors, with some ideas and suggestions on how she made them:

From Expressions by Devin, a cute variation of cupcake toppers – PURSES on top of the cupcake:

And not toot our own horn (again) or anything, but you really MUST check out all the favors in the Diva Entertains Purse Favors section.

Bacon Wrapped Tater Tots with Maple Glaze

Bacon wrapped appetizer recipe

I couldn’t help but smile when I came across this Taste of Home magazine recipe (thanks to the magazine for the photo).  Tater tots were a rare treat in my childhood and a cause for celebration when we did have them. Bacon wrapped tater tots certainly had appeal but it was when I read that the tots were first brushed with maple syrup prior to wrapping in a bacon slice that this recipe turned into a ‘must try’.  I confess – they were really good.  And fun.  A can’t miss appetizer.  And just in time for the Superbowl!

Rolo Cookie Recipe with Peanut Butter Chunks

chocolate rolo cookie recipe

Looks good doesn’t it!  Although this recipe originally called for chocolate chunks (larger than chocolate chips) I didn’t have any in the house but I did have mini Rolos!  They ended up being awesome!

I like my cookies thick and the best way to achieve that is to make sure that your cookie dough is cold or frozen when you put them in the oven (it you bake them right away they will still be delicious, but they will spread more and  be a bit crisper).

A friend on the recipe board I’m a part of posted this recipe from the Picky Palate blog. I’ve adapted it a bit below.
