Campfire Party – inside and out!

Summer is going to be here in two blinks of an eye, and it’s time to start thinking about campfires and s’mores!  Now, for the “delicate” among us, not all campfire events have to be OUTSIDE in the wild… some can be inside with A/C and s’mores can be made in more ways than one. Teen Birthday Ideas

We talk a lot about adults… and little ones… but rarely do I post about the tweens/teens!  Today… we’ll fix that with some great ideas and inspiration!

Blueberry Scones with Lemon Glaze

Frosting Cookies and Cakes

It’s time for a SWEET post, don’t you think?  I’ve got some great DIY and inspiration for cookie making and cake decorating!

From whisk-kid, a great step-by-step cake frosting tutorial!  (I need this post!!)


A very simple tutorial on decorating with two color frosting cupcakes with store-bought icing, from anna and blue paperie:  And at the end of the post she provides a link for a very easy tutorial to frost a cake with roses!


One of my favorite fondant artists is Sugar High, Inc.  You have to check out the online fondant art gallery… and prepared to be awestruck!  Well, Sugar High offers a few tutorials (not free) on how to create fondant art.  The price is TOTALLY reasonable for a tutorial of this kind… check out the adorable whales:


My favorite cookie artist, Sweet Sugarbelle has a great post on making icing colors match:


And I found this great photo tutorial on facebook, courtesy of SugarNosh Treats, for making leopard print cookies!


One Bite Strawberry Desserts

These delicious mascarpone filled strawberries are the perfect ending to a summer meal or as offering on a dessert buffet.  This terrific and *easy* recipe comes to you via my good friend Liz at The Skinny Chick Can Bake blog.  Please check her blog out and sign up for her posts; you’ll be glad you did!

Now back to these wonderful one bite desserts.  Mascarpone is similar to cream cheese but a bit sweeter and richer (oh my – how wonderful is that!).  The only other ingredients is a bit of sugar, cream and vanilla.  And the strawberries of course!

Memorial Day DIY

Memorial Day is next weekend, and we are planning a simple backyard BBQ with family… but for those of you who have grander plans, I’ve got some fun Red, White, and Blue DIY ideas AND recipes for you!
