Fab Balloon Decorations

I found a INCREDIBLE blog post the other day with the most INCREDIBLE backdrop for a party… using balloons!  The post inspired me to look for more ways to use balloons as affordable, fun, and FAB decor!  Here is what I found!

The post that inspired me, from Party Tales… check out the (did I say INCREDIBLE) use of balloons for this under the sea party!

From In The Corner, I found a step-by-step how-to make a balloon arch.

And from pinterest (sorry, couldn’t find original source), a last little bit of inspiration… I think you could use the skills acquired from the tutorial from Party City to re-create some of this:

End of Summer Party Ideas

It’s hard to believe… but the end of summer is upon us already!  Kids are going back to school, or already back in school, and the weather is slowly cooling off.  We have another couple of months of warm weather in our region, but the days are clicking by quickly.  Here are some fun ideas for celebrating (our mourning) the end of summer!

From Ready, Set, Party… a fun FREE “So Long Summer” party printable kit… banner, tags, and flags included!

Ballet and Ballerina Inspired Party Ideas

We have talked about ballerina parties before (HERE), but I don’t think we could ever have too much tulle and ribbon around here.  I found some fun new additions to ballet and ballerina inspired parties… and I have some featured items from the Diva Entertains shop too!  Here are some random ballet inspired ideas…

First, from pinterest (because I can’t find the original source), a super cute idea for forks at the ballerina party place settings:

From Kate Landers Events, a seriously AMAZING post about a Nutcracker Suite party.  Did I say amazing?

I also fell in love with these ballet cupcakes from Cute Food.  Although there isn’t a tutorial the comments under the post hints at how they can be decorated.  Personally I would print a picture of it and take it to my supermarket bakery and ask if they could recreate them – I do this all the time!how to make ballet tutu cupcakes

Another fun decor idea, again from pinterest (and I can’t find the original source on this one either, but it’s too cute to not share)… I don’t think this would be too difficult with some poster board and tulle and ribbon!

And how about some white chocolate covered oreos, with a gorgeous ballet design… from the Diva Entertains shop:

Lemon Mousse – Refreshing and Light Tasting!

lemon desserts recipe

We are lovers of lemons in our family!  I cook and bake with them constantly..

Lately I’ve been on the lookout for great lemon dessert recipes and I came across this one from Ina Garten.  Just like the reviews stated – it was fab! Light, bright and refreshing.  Ina puts it all in a big bowl to serve but I chose to serve it in individual glasses.

Oh – and if you want to see Ina make it – here’s her short (3 minutes) video demonstrating it.

Back to School DIY

As much as I hate to say it, summer is almost over… and that means back to school, routines, homework, and carpools.  I’m not sure who is more sad – me more or my children.  The only thing making me feel slightly better is the back to school shopping (I love NEW notebooks and pens!), and the fun ideas I found for Back to School DIY.

Today’s post will focus on the children, and accessories for school.  I’ll write another one next week with Back to School gifts for your teachers.

From Making the World Cuter, a fun tutorial for Personalized Pencil boxes!

A more feminine and shabby chic style of the pencil holders would be these adorable knotted pencil pouches, from see kate sew:

Quinoa Tabbuleh – Healthy & Delicious

healthy quinoa recipes

Forgive me – one more non-sweet recipe.  Too delicious to pass up!

Have you ever tried quinoa?  It’s packed full of protein and can be used in place of bulgur, barley and kasha.  Did I mention that it is absolutely delicious too?!  And so is this healthy quinoa recipe.  The parsley is fresh out of our garden and in another month or two I’ll be using our home grown tomatoes and cucumbers too!
