Fresh Apple Cake with Walnuts

topping for apple cake

This recipe has fast become my autumn ‘go to’ cake.  Bursting with fall flavors (apples, cinnamon, nutmeg and caramel), this fresh apple cake is super moist and so easy to make.  No equipment needed except for a whisk and a spatula!

The topping for the apple cake is a caramel glaze and even though I followed the instructions provided by Better Homes and Garden my glaze did not look the same as in the photo above.  Mine was thinner and immediately was absorbed by the cake but that was not a bad thing.  The glaze added great flavor and added to the moistness of the cake.  I LOVE this easy apple cake!

Best Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter Cookies (IMHO)

peanut butter cookies with chips

Today I have another fabulous recipe from my favorite cookie cookbook* for you.  We will start off with the bakery’s base cookie dough, which in my opinion is the best peanut butter cookie recipe I’ve come across.  One that you will use over and over again.  And to it we we’ll add chopped salted peanuts and chocolate chips.  And we’ll put a Dove chocolate candy right in the middle!

Breast Cancer Oreo Pops

how to make oreo pops

As Breast Cancer Awareness Month kicks off, I’d like to share with you some pink ribbon oreo pops that we made as a fundraiser.  To make them I followed tutorial on how to make Oreo Pops.  I purchased all my supplies at Walmart, from the oreo cookies to the pink and white candy melts to the lollipop sticks to the cello bags I wrapped them in (I already had pink satin ribbon to secure the bag around the pops).  Craft stores also sell everything but the Oreos – just look in or near the baking aisle.

Follow the instructions on the candy melts; first time I used melts I scorched them (I didn’t follow the instructions).  I made the zigzag shape and the pink ribbons by filling a quart-sized ziploc bag and snipping off just a teeny bit from one corner.  The candy coating hardens quickly so you can easily accomplish a package of oreos in an hour or so!

Breast Cancer Awareness

It’s October, which means Breast Cancer Awareness!  It’s such a hugely important topic for me (Char), as my little sister is battling her second round of breast cancer.  She is a fighter, but this battle is such a tough one!  In honor of Sarah, and all the other breast cancer survivors and fighters out there, I collected some pink inspiration!

From my favorite cookie maker/designer, Sweet Sugar Belle, some Think Pink cookies!

From Stitch Craft, a tutorial on making a breast cancer awareness wreath. Isn’t it gorgeous?

This isn’t a tutorial, but I love cake pops, Bakerella, and Kohl’s, so I had to share!  Those hundreds of pink cake pops made me cry!

From See Jane Party, a super cute idea for DIY breast cancer koozies (never heard them called this before, but it’s cute!)

And finally, because it IS October, and that means pumpkins too… I had to include a pink pumpkin inspiration!  From the Long Dirt Road

And from Diva Entertains Breast Cancer Awareness Favors, how about some Pink Ribbon Oreos?
