Tuesday Trend – Vintage Glam for weddings and parties

“Vintage Glam” might not be for everyone, but you have to admit there is a plenty of room for glam in the vintage category!  The “vintage party” concept is a fun trend, and I’ve got some great finds for you, if this is YOUR type of glam.

From The Sweetest Occasion, check out this tutorial on making Vintage Contact Paper banners – perfect for decorating for a vintage wedding theme or birthday party!

A tutorial so easy, it’s mostly just photo inspiration!  Look at these wonderful vintage votives trimmed with lace, from Annaboo’s House:

There are lots and lots of fabulous cake and cupcake designers out there, but I found one from the UK who really seems to GET the vintage glam idea.  Check out the Cotton and Crumb cupcake gallery HERE. (And be sure to click around the site to see a lot of other amazing dessert and cake designs too!) When you see something (or two or three) that you like – print out the photo and take it to your bakery to replicate!  For a fun and delightful twist – serve your vintage cupcakes in teacups – no crumbs!

Peacock Wedding Theme

One of the hottest trends in wedding themes right now is the Peacock theme…from garters to bouquets… from place settings to wedding gowns… all with rich blues, purples, greens.  If you are looking to add a dazzling display of color to your wedding…consider the peacock!  And you know I have inspiration for you!

Adorning the back of each chair at your reception with flowers, peacock feathers, and greenery – FAB!

For your peacock wedding cake, there are a LOT of variations to choose from.  As we’ve mentioned in previous posts, if you just love a design, you can print the photo and take it to your bakery to recreate!  From Project Wedding, an incredible peacock cake:

Winter Wedding (and Party) Favors

It’s party favor time!  I’ve found some fabulous winter wedding ideas and party favors and DIY projects for your WINTER event.  Snowflakes, chocolate, cookies, and more!

From Something Turquoise, DIY chocolate tasting party favor jars. These are SO unique and fun… who wouldn’t want a favor with THREE different kinds of chocolate! And you can purchase the adorable little jars inexpensively from craft stores – don’t forget your coupons.  Need help with the labels – we can create custom labels for you at Diva Entertains – give us a call!

Here’s something I haven’t seen before, but I will TOTALLY be trying…chocolate filled cookie cutter favors! Perfect for the whimsical winter wedding favor or party!  Very easy to make, delicious to eat and your guest will have adorable little cookie cutters to take home!


And one more “edible” favor idea, from Our Best Bites… single serving pies in a jar! Perfect for the bride who is known for baking or her love of all things pastry!  Make sure you read her post in entirety – so darn helpful.  And…these would be really easy with pie crusts found in the refrigerator section of your grocery

It’s a GLAM Baby Shower!

I have to admit, I had SO much fun with this post.  I’m not having any more babies anytime soon (or ever), but I always get a little bit of “baby fever” around the first of each year.  Probably because it’s a time for NEW and BEGINNINGS!  Thankfully, there are always plenty of lovely ladies that ARE having babies in my circles, so I thought I’d settle the “fever” by planning a fun party for one of THEM! And I found some super, super fab GLAM Baby Shower inspirations… and a few other fun extras!

First up, from Brooklyn Limestone, an incredibly glamerous baby shower!  Check out the invites and read what she did.  It’s short and has some great inexpensive baby shower ideas:

I don’t know about you, but I’m just a tiny bit tired this week!  Lots of holiday happenings and goings and comings and family visits and get-togethers and…and…  well, YOU know!  So, today’s post is a bit light on the DIY and a bit heavy on the “look what I’ve found, isn’t it lovely and whimsical?”  Hope that’s ok with you!

DIY Birthday – for the BIG kids

And by big kids, I mean the ADULTS!

I’m planning a 40th birthday party and I’ve been looking for fun DIY birthday decorations and party themes that don’t involve “over the hill” or black balloons.  Thankfully, I’ve found a LOT of inspiration out there!

More Holiday Wreaths!

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote a post about DIY Holiday wreaths (you can read it HERE).  Since then, I’ve found MORE DIY wreaths to share, and a second Holiday Wreath post was born!  I’ve got DIY tutorials for you, AND a few gorgeous wreath designs to inspire.  There is STILL time to decorate for the holidays… or even design a wreath for AFTER the holidays!

I know I keep talking about ruffles, but they are HUGE right now.  Just look at this lovely felt ruffle wreath, designed by Kristen of Domestifluff.  The wreath tutorial for how to make this can be found on the Design Sponge site HERE:

While out driving around with the kids, looking at Christmas lights, we came across a house that took my breath away.  It was decorated in whites and blues and silvers, and those became my new favorite holiday colors (at least until we saw the NEXT dazzling home).  With my new favorite colors in mind, I was thrilled to find a tutorial for a white and blue GLAM Christmas wreath, from Centsational Girl:
