Thrifty Thursday – Make Your Own GLAM Christmas Ornaments

I have so many lovely DIY Christmas ornament projects to show you today, I’m going to just hush and show you already!

Check out these gorgeous DIY Christmas ornaments from Better Homes and Gardens:

A post from Bower Power has several fabulous ideas for making handmade Christmas ornaments.  I think my favorites are the ornaments decorated with glass stones.  You could do a variety of colors for your ornaments if you prefer, since the stones come in all shades.  You can find these glass stones at Walmart, Michaels, Hobby Lobby, and Joanns.  They are also available online – click HERE for the red version.

From the Crafty Chicks, a VERY affordable, but gorgeous DIY Christmas crafts idea.  These are made from juice top lids.  Yes, you read that right!  Juice Top Lid Glam Ornaments:

From Centsational Girl, this DIY Christmas project, a lovely “kissing ball” ornament tutorial:

And also from Centsational Girl, glittery cookie cutter ornaments:  (Centsational Girl has several other fabulous ideas – be SURE to click on over)

How about a DIY Toile Ornament, from Better Homes and Gardens.

If you aren’t a fan of the toile, you COULD use this tutorial to make all kinds of variations.  Just find your favorite design on a paper napkin, and you are in business!  These glass animal print Christmas ornaments could be easily reproduced with animal print napkins, and a bit of glitter:

And finally, from Real Simple, this isn’t exactly a DIY on making an ornament, but rather a DIY on making an ornament chandelier.  Gorgeous!

Will you be making ornaments this year?  We’d love it if you leave a comment and tell us about *your* DIY projects!

Advent Calendars – DIY, Printable and More

Every year, I vow to be “better prepared” than the last year, and every year December 1st sneaks up on me.  For the last THREE years, I’ve wanted to do a homemade advent calendar or Christmas countdown calendar with my kids.  And for the last THREE years, I’ve forgotten until it was too late, and… well, that’s where the “better prepared” vow comes in.

First, from andersruff.etsy.com, an inexpensive printable Christmas countdown cones version.  The cones can be hung from your tree or a mantle. Simply purchase from andersruff, print, cut out and put together… and voila, a fun and beautiful DIY advent calendar.

And another fabulous and inexpensive printable countdown calendar from andersruff, the mitten version!

I just can’t decide which one I want to use – but I can assure you I will be choosing one of them!

Here’s another fun idea… use matchboxes to make a decorative tree and advent calendar all in one!

Another seriously CUTE idea is the “baby sock” advent calendar craft from Martha Stewart.  Click the link for the full how-to on this adorable idea!

And one last idea from etsy, this time from Sweet Anne Handcrafted Designs… a  block printable countdown calendar for only $2.50.  (Oh, this one is tempting me too!).

NOW, to figure out what kind of little goodies I want to get to put IN the cones… or mittens… or boxes.

Fab Friday: Winter Weddings, Part 1

It’s Fab Friday… and I’m excited to share a few FAB photos I found this week.

Out of curiosity, if you are planning a winter wedding, what is your color scheme?

I have been drooling over winter wedding inspiration photos, and I’ve decided my FAVORITE color scheme is purple and white.  It kind of took me by surprise… I mean, I expected to love all the blue and white themes (ok, I DID love those), but never expected to be WOW’ed by the purple!

The photos from Southern Wedding are what did it:

Stunning, right??

Love, love the idea of the Hot Cocoa or Hot Chai bar.

Did you know that we offer Hot Chocolate favors in the Diva Entertains shop? They come with hot cocoa layered with marshmallows and dark and white chocolate chip toppings.  The attached tags can be customized to fit your theme and color scheme… seriously perfect as a winter wedding favor!

And I know I just talked about a thumbprint family tree the other day, but I found THIS fabulous wedding tree idea in “say anything” design’s etsy shop:

A thumbprint tree… to replace a traditional guest book! (Yes, the photo has the thumbprints in purple… bonus!)

And… one last FAB inspiration collage with a purple and cream wedding theme, from Style Me Pretty.  Even though I’m not actually PLANNING a winter wedding, I’m thinking the lavender centerpiece would be wonderful for a holiday party.  Look at all the jars and the vintage feel?  LOVE!!

Happy FAB Friday!
