DIY Spring Time Wreaths

It’s been awhile since we had a wreath post, and I think it’s definitely time for a post on beautiful spring wreaths to make – don’t you?

First up, from TwelveOEight, a how to make a burlap wreath for spring– love how simple this is, and how shabby chic!

I’m not sure it gets much easier than the following wreath from Living Locurto.  It’s a 10-minute how to make a napkin wreath tutorial, isn’t it FAB!

From Just Dip It In Chocolate, a  DIY Easter Wreath with Spanish Moss – she warns that it’s  messy to put together, but I love the final result:

From Piccadilly Peddlers, another shabby chic look in her DIY Spring Wreath… LOVE that chevron ribbon!

Will you be making Spring wreaths this year?  We’d love to hear about it!

Peacock Wedding Favors

Here at Diva Entertains, nothing thrills us quite like happy customer photos.  We love seeing how folks use our items to enhance their event, and when they send us photos, it means we get to share with you!  Here are a couple of photos from a fabulous peacock themed wedding, and the customers purchased our AMAZING peacock cookie pops.  Love, love how they decorated their cake table:

I found a lovely Peacock Princess Party over at Whimsical Printables, with loads of ideas for a peacock party theme.  Just check out these beautiful coffee cups…you can read the tutorial on how to make these at Giggles Galore.

The fun thing about the peacock theme is that you really can choose your favorite color and go with it.  You’ve got blues, purples, greens, and even pinks can be used together with peacock feathers.  Check out this lovely pink floral peacock centerpiece!  The only credit I can find is on pinterest, but I still had to share:

Theme Thursday – Peacock Colors

We’ve been talking about a lot of different themes for weddings and parties on our Theme Thursdays.  This week, I thought I would do a little more on the topic of PEACOCK color schemes, since it’s such a popular theme lately.  We’re talking royal blues, deep purples, greens, teals and turquoise…

From Brides.com, an incredible tiered wedding cake, with all the fabulous peacock colors:

The easiest way to get TONS of peacock cake inspiration is to go to Google.com/Images and type in “peacock cakes” or some derivative of that (ex: peacock wedding cake).  Then print out the pics of the cakes that you love so that when you meet with your baker you can share your likes (and dislikes).
Also found on Brides.com, a FAB feather clip for your wedding shoes:

Etsy.com is a fabulous source for peacock feather shoe clips (that’s where the above was from) and peacock feather hair accessories.  Just type in those words when you get there!

I found these amazing peacock gown on eDressMe:

And some very original (and gorgeous) peacock ring bearer pillows, from Bronze Budget Bride:

And finally, from our Diva Entertains shop, some gorgeous Save the Date postcard designs:

Happy Theme Thursday!

Theme Thursday – Orange and Black

We are continuing our new Theme Thursday series this week with… Orange and Black… partly because of upcoming Halloween parties, but also because the two colors together can make a stunning theme.  Whether you are planning a Halloween party, a bridal shower, or a themed wedding, I have lots of Orange and Black for you today!

First, from CakesDecor.com – a jaw-dropping Black Damask and Orange theme cake (and she has stenciling AND pleating tutorials for the cake decorators out there!):

I think black damask and orange go PERFECTLY together, and here is a second example in the cake department, from The Couture Cakery:

Want to find more FABULOUS pictures of orange and black cakes? Go to Google.com/Images and type in (for example):

  • orange and black cakes (or wedding cakes)
  • orange and black cupcakes (if that’s of interest to you)

What about centerpieces?  I found a fun FREE printable from Living Locurto – she has several free designs that are geared towards Halloween parties, but I think this one would be perfect for a shower or even a wedding reception.  Included in the post are very detailed instructions for designing a lovely orange and black tablescape.

From Brooklyn Bride, a modern tablescape in orange and black!  Great inspiration, with a list of materials used at the end of the post:

Interested in see more orange and black centerpieces and table settings?  Once again go to Google.com/Images and type in (for example):

  • Orange Centerpieces
  • Black Centerpieces
  • Orange and Black Centerpieces
  • Orange Bouquets (for inspiration:)

Stepping away from weddings for just a minute… I found this adorable styled 1st birthday party post on The Tom Kat studio blog – it includes pink, but I just couldn’t NOT share it.  It’s a good example of orange and black AND pink. 🙂

What do YOU think about Orange and Black as a theme?  We’d love to hear your thoughts!

Fall Decor

Sometimes we branch out just a LITTLE from parties and events, and just talk about decor.  Today is one of those days!  It’s time to start thinking about your fall decor (just a few more days until it is officially no longer summer!)  I have some fall-ish DIY and inspiration for you!

From Thrifty Decor Chick, a very simple (and lovely) DIY fall wreath tutorial.

How about Duck Tape Pumpkins?  From Love and Sugar Kisses, comes a VERY unique way to decorate your real (or not) pumpkins this year.  You’ll be amazed at all the designs duck tape is now available in:

From A Diamond in the Stuff comes a pumpkin topiary… WITH glitter!  Click through to see just how easy and inexpensive this is to make!  This is one of the best pumpkin decorating ideas I’ve come across.

From Martha Stewart, a step-by-step tutorial on making a gorgeous pumpkin chandelier for those of you that are more ambitious:):

And finally, from BHG.com, FABULOUS fall bling… on fruit! Make sure you scroll through ALL 17 fall centerpiece ideas!

How will YOU be decorating for fall?  We’d love to hear about it!

Theme Thursday – a Yellow and Gray Wedding

One of my most favorite things to do when reading other party and entertainment blogs is to “collect themes”.  It is fascinating to me the color combinations and ideas that are out there for parties, and especially for weddings.  With that idea in mind, I thought we’d share themes on Thursdays for the next few weeks.

Today’s theme?  Yellow and Gray!  Sleek modern gray, coupled with sweet soft yellow.  What a fabulous combination for wedding colors, don’t you think?  Ok, don’t take MY word for it… check out the inspiration I have for you…

From Style Me Pretty, some gorgeous eye-candy full of yellows and grays:

Seriously… look at this table setting!  Love how something so small as a single flower stem elevates the look to something so beautiful and special.

From weddingchicks.com, another fabulous array of yellow and gray.  I’m in LOVE with these yellow wedding shoes! She shares so many lovely little touches such as bud vases, unique place cards, yellow striped straws and more.

From the Hostess blog, a stunning, jaw-droppingly gorgeous yellow and gray dessert table.

And for the DIY’ers, check out this post about making a celebration banner… in yellow and gray, of course!

For further *FAB* inspiration pictures, ideas and sources go to Google.com/Images and type in what you are interested in learning about, such as:

  • yellow and gray wedding cakes
  • yellow and gray invitations
  • yellow and gray wedding centerpieces

Are you planning a wedding, and have a fun color combination theme we should check out?  We’d love to hear about it!

MORE DIY Flowers…

If you’ve been reading long here at Diva Entertains, you know we like DIY Flower tutorial posts.  You can read one HERE.. and HERE… and HERE

And more today!

First up, from Martha Stewart, Cupcake Paper Flowers!

And another Cupcake Liner Flower tutorial, from Intimate Weddings: They provide terrific step-by-step instructions with photos!

These adorable ric-rac flowers are actually for hair-clips, BUT I think they could be used as floral centerpieces in a variety of ways.  Another great step-by-step tutorial.  And although it shows the use of a sewing machine – fabric glue might work too!  From Oh For Sweetness Sake:

From Style Me Pretty, a lovely DIY Flower Bracelet… that, again, could be used in a variety of ways.  It’s a great tutorial for how to attach flowers (faux or real) to wire stems!

And finally, from Once Wed, an incredibly FAB flower favor box.  I know this is a little outside the realm of “just flowers”, but I couldn’t pass up sharing the lovey tutorial.  It includes the free template for the box as well as instructions (with pics) on how to make and assemble it – beautiful!:

And once again, you can read our OTHER Flower DIY posts HERE.. and HERE… and HERE

Shabby Chic Wedding Touches

We talked about “little touches” yesterday, and I wanted to continue that theme today with a few more… this time, shabby chic style!

Nothing says shabby chic like burlap and lace together, and I found a very quick and easy tutorial on decorating candles with these two items.  Perfect for a burlap and lace wedding theme (it is actually very popular!) Check out how pretty the final product is… and read the tutorial at Factory Direct Craft:

And continuing the burlap idea, I found a great tutorial for how to make burlap flowers on Snug As A Bug Baby.   This isn’t a wedding post, but you can easily use the tutorial to create burlap flowers to accent your centerpieces or even bouquets!

This next idea isn’t a tutorial, but it is a wonderfully sweet idea.  The bride and groom included a “memory” chair at their wedding, with frames of family members who aren’t with them any more.  The frames made me think “shabby chic”, so I’m including it today.  Isn’t this a lovely idea?

And from Intimate Weddings, a post about ways to incorporate wildflowers into your wedding florals and bouquets.  I especially liked the logs as end tables idea!  A friend recently asked my advice concerning barn wedding decorations and I thought these ideas were absolutely perfect! Yes – barn weddings are also increasingly popular!

What shabby chic ideas have you discovered lately?
