DIY Wedding Guest Books

There are a lot of ways to personalize a wedding reception, but one of the most unique ways is to create or design your own wedding guest book. In fact, these days, wedding guest books aren’t always “books”. I’ve found some great alternatives, as well as a some traditional ideas, for you today!

From Confetti Day Dreams – a post full of Colorado gorgeousness… AND a fun “guest book” puzzle idea. They used puzzle pieces that the guests could write a note on, and the bride and groom could put the tree puzzle together later, reading all the sentiments as they went!

Martha Stewart Wedding DIY

I have so, SO many links to fab DIY projects from Martha Stewart and Martha Stewart Weddings, that I decided to dedicate an entire post to them! Here are some of the most recent DIY wedding project finds, all from Martha Stewart!

Super easy, incredibly elegant Rosette Chandelier decorations: Make sure that you scroll through the pics – their are actually 32 FAB DIY wedding projects.

How about more Martha Stewart DIY decorations? This tissue paper project is both favor and decoration! Tissue paper flower template – perfect for place settings or centerpieces:

Lemon and Lime Wedding Inspiration

I collect links to all kinds of wedding (and party) inspiration, and often I realize that themes are emerging among all my collected links. Today is a post based on one of those themes – lemons and limes! The golden yellow and lovely green of lemon and lime make a perfect accents for summer weddings, I think… and I’m not alone!

FAB Winter Wedding Cakes

Today is an “eye-candy” kind of post…I’ve been looking at winter wedding ideas lately, and found some FAB cakes I just had to share.

Theme Thursday – Thinking about 2013 Weddings!

I don’t have a specific theme for today, but rather some general info for getting started with your wedding and reception plans for 2013! Some of these topics we will discuss in more detail in the coming weeks (like the colors listed below), but for now, here’s a “quick start” to 2013 wedding planning!

Wedding Colors:

According to a couple of wedding trends websites I’ve visited recently, some of the most popular wedding colors for 2013 will be aqua, tangerine, lilac, mustard, antique blue, deep red, latte, lavender, charcoal, and sage. What do you think?

Wedding Themes:

Traditional church weddings still exist of course, but more and more it seems that couples are choosing “theme” weddings. Destinations like Hawaii and Mexico seem to be HUGELY popular… outdoor, folksy weddings… vintage and shabby chic (also usually outdoors)…. Las Vegas (of course). Check out this video from Martha Stewart – she and her Darcy Miller share some lovely trends and ideas. (you’ll have to bear through a 30 second advertisement first). She also is offering a destination wedding sweepstakes!

Wedding DIY:

Here at Diva Entertains we talk A LOT about DIY (or do-it-yourself). All of our posts are chock-full of DIY ideas for parties and entertainment. Theme Thursday – Blue and White

It’s time for another Theme Thursday, and today I’ve chosen blue and white themes… these colors together make a wonderful backdrop for winter weddings and events.

From Bentley Meeker comes an incredible display of blue and white. I especially love the trees as decor. If you want LOTS of eye-candy, you have to spend some time on their site.

From Blissique, a BEAUTIFUL blue and white bridal shower, with some fab ideas for decorating and favors. I love the little bits of blue surrounded by white. So lovely and easy to do! Perfect for a blue and white baby shower too!

Thursday Theme – GOLD

Oh my… do I have some LUSCIOUS photos to share today. We all know gold goes with weddings like cookies go with milk – it’s really hard to have one without the other! I have found some incredible GOLDEN inspirations for you.

From BBJ Linen comes a small but FAB gallery of gold wedding ideas. Check out this sheer gold set-up. Isn’t it amazing how a little thing such as chair bows make such a big impact? Diva Entertains offers similar ones HERE.

From once wed, just look at this milk and honey (aka gold) wedding tablescape:

Gold wedding cake, anyone? From Brides.com and America’s Most Beautiful Cakes: There are 25 beautiful cakes to scroll through. Not all are gold, but all are *fabulous*!

For a completely unique bouquet, go with a gold brooch and floral bouquet! From wedding chicks.com, a couple of ideas on how to pull it off:

From 100 Layer Cake, a DIY post about how to make colored mason jars for centerpieces – and in this case GOLD mason jars! Such an inexpensive way to beautifully decorate.

Thursday Theme – Holiday Weddings

It’s a little late to be planning a holiday wedding for THIS year, but it’s just about the right time to start planning one for NEXT year! So, with that in mind, we have collected some fun links for you holiday wedding planning! And seriously… reds and whites, reds and golds, blues and whites… there are some fab color schemes to consider when planning a holiday wedding!

From wedding bells, I found a slideshow of yummy bite-sized foods for your winter wedding. I love the idea of donut holes as a wedding food, don’t you. Make sure you scroll through all 22 wedding finger food pics – the presentation and suggestions are *fab*!

There are TONS of variations of holiday wedding cakes out there (just go to Google.com/Images and type in “Christmas wedding cakes” to see a few..thousand), but I found this one on Pink Cake Box, and loved the red “em roidered” look: Take some time and check out her other cakes – we are are sure you’ll find plenty of inspiration! And you could go with a traditional red and white floral bouquet for your holiday wedding… or, you could make something unique like this DIY crystal and pearl bouquet, from Oh Dear Photography: They even include a little ‘how to make a pearl bouquet’ tutorial!

From Elizabeth Ann Designs, check out the GORGEOUS holiday centerpiece idea with DIY instructions… cranberries, greenery, candles.. I love it! There are 3 other beautiful Christmas craft projects on the same page so before to read the entire post!

Thursday Theme – (Chocolate) Browns

Happy November 1st! To celebrate the glory of autumn and fall, I thought I’d do our Thursday Theme post on Browns and Golds. You will be amazed at the lovely cake and decor ideas there are for a Brown Wedding. It certainly helps that CHOCOLATE is the color of brown… oh, the possibilities!

From Project Wedding, look at this GORGEOUS cake with brown ribbon fondant. It’s a simple white cake made fabulous by the ribbon. I definitely will remember this idea when planning future events. I also LOVE the rose bouquets – the rust tips and brown wrapping around the stems look great!

And from Martha Stewart, a chocolate (I told you!) topper on a lovely cake…Make sure you scroll through all 19 pics of her post because she has some great brown wedding ideas for favors, decor and invites.

I could NOT pass up sharing this next item. For a gold and brown wedding (a very popular color combination) An incredible golden brown bouquet made with brooches – talk about gorgeous.. and BLING!

Wondering if brown is a good color for your bridesmaids? Wonder no more! Just look at the lovely ladies in this Santa Fe Wedding, from Melissa Schollaert:

As the picture above shows, brown goes wonderfully with POPS of color. Oranges, golds, turquoise… and of course pink. And thinking about fun ways add touches of brown, check out this lovely seat card table with perfectly arranged pinecones, from Martha Stewart. POP of brown!

Theme Thursday – Orange and Black

We are continuing our new Theme Thursday series this week with… Orange and Black… partly because of upcoming Halloween parties, but also because the two colors together can make a stunning theme. Whether you are planning a Halloween party, a bridal shower, or a themed wedding, I have lots of Orange and Black for you today!

First, from CakesDecor.com – a jaw-dropping Black Damask and Orange theme cake (and she has stenciling AND pleating tutorials for the cake decorators out there!):

I think black damask and orange go PERFECTLY together, and here is a second example in the cake department, from The Couture Cakery:
