Theme Thursday – a Yellow and Gray Wedding

One of my most favorite things to do when reading other party and entertainment blogs is to “collect themes”.  It is fascinating to me the color combinations and ideas that are out there for parties, and especially for weddings.  With that idea in mind, I thought we’d share themes on Thursdays for the next few weeks.

Today’s theme?  Yellow and Gray!  Sleek modern gray, coupled with sweet soft yellow.  What a fabulous combination for wedding colors, don’t you think?  Ok, don’t take MY word for it… check out the inspiration I have for you…

From Style Me Pretty, some gorgeous eye-candy full of yellows and grays:

Seriously… look at this table setting!  Love how something so small as a single flower stem elevates the look to something so beautiful and special.

From weddingchicks.com, another fabulous array of yellow and gray.  I’m in LOVE with these yellow wedding shoes! She shares so many lovely little touches such as bud vases, unique place cards, yellow striped straws and more.

From the Hostess blog, a stunning, jaw-droppingly gorgeous yellow and gray dessert table.

And for the DIY’ers, check out this post about making a celebration banner… in yellow and gray, of course!

For further *FAB* inspiration pictures, ideas and sources go to Google.com/Images and type in what you are interested in learning about, such as:

  • yellow and gray wedding cakes
  • yellow and gray invitations
  • yellow and gray wedding centerpieces

Are you planning a wedding, and have a fun color combination theme we should check out?  We’d love to hear about it!

Save the Date Ideas

“Save the Date” cards have become wildly popular in the last couple of years, and I’m always running across fun and unique ways to share the exciting date!  Here are a few of my favorites…

From Urban Style blog, a lovely engagement photos post includes (at the VERY end) a really cute idea for “Save the Date” – driftwood with the date painted on!  Shabby chic and perfect!  Create your very own unique and fun “Save the Date” photo, take it to a drugstore (Costco, etc.) and let them turn it into inexpensive postcards or note cards.

From Martha Stewart, a lovely ribbon and cardstock save the date message… I LOVE this one.  And….they actually aren’t hard to make.  A bit time-consuming, but not hard:

From My Yellow Umbrella, a great DIY post about how to make cardboard cut outs… to enhance your photos with a silhouette date!  What a fun and unique idea!

Another unique idea from Martha Stewart.. a compass inspired save-the-date.  The post includes templates and instructions!

I found a GORGEOUS idea on 100layercake.com… a hand embroidered handkerchief!  The credit for these hankies goes to Benign Objects.  Beautiful Victorian wedding inspiration in the post!

And last but not least, a scrabble inspired save-the-date, from cameras and light:

Peacock Bridal Shower and Favors AND Customer Photo!

We have mentioned this before, but the Peacock theme is an incredibly popular one right now for weddings and bridal showers.  Today I have inspirations for those of you who are planning a peacock event.  (And if you AREN’T planning one… shouldn’t you be??)

So, to start us off, here is an incredibly simple way to decorate a dessert table by using peacock-colored cupcakes, like these from RoseBakes.com.  You could add simple toppers, and even peacock feathers as toppers (as mentioned in her post).  You can also wrap your cupcakes with our Peacock Cupcake Wrappers.

From Giggles Galore, comes an INCREDIBLE Peacock Party post with lots of inspiration.  The party was actually a Peacock Princess party, but I think the ideas could easily be adapted for a bridal shower.  My favorite?  The peacock cups!  You can check out the TUTORIAL HERE.

I found a Pretty Peacock “real party” post on The Hostess Blog, with tons of incredible inspiration.  I could not get over how gorgeous this next photo was… just had to share!  What a great idea for the drinks and dessert table:

Also, we are sharing another customer photo today!  Bonnie sent us a photo of some FAB Bridesmaid gift bags she put together, using our Peacock Favor Bags.

Here is a photo of the Favor Bags from our Diva Entertains shop:

And here is how Bonnie dressed them up… gold tissue paper, a peacock feather.  Did I say FAB??!
