It’s a Gingerbread House kind of day…

My kids still have a few more days of school left before their winter vacation, but we are starting to feel like we’re in “vacation” mode already.  I am letting homework slide this week, and instead we will be doing a few fun projects… like gingerbread houses.. and cookies!  Here are a few fun ideas and ways YOU can do the same!

First, a traditional DIY gingerbread house, from Taste of Home:

And another excellent series of DIY houses with LOTS of helpful Gingerbread House Decorating tips, from bon appetite:  Make sure you scroll down, once you click through, for all the information, links and photos!

Don’t want to bake, but still want your kids to be able to make a gingerbread house craft?  Check out this one from Inner Child Fun, a PRINTABLE (non edible) version… love this!

From Curbly.com, a very cool Geodesic Dome gingerbread house.  There is a video you can watch to learn how to make THIS masterpiece:

Now – moving into “Christmas Tree Cookies”, you’ll love these next two!

Check out these 3D Christmas Tree Gingerbread Cookies, from Not Martha:

And another variation – a video from babble.com – on how to make a Christmas tree with stacked gingerbread cookies:

Will you be doing any gingerbread baking?  If you make a house or cookies, we’d love to hear about it!

Unique Table Numbers

There are so MANY fab ideas for numbering (or lettering) your party tables, you just wouldn’t believe!  Frames of all shapes and kinds, flower arrangements, wine bottles with numbers… and here are a few of the more unique ideas I found:

First, from Brit.com, check out this fun post using scrabble tiles to decorate for your wedding or party.   Who knew that a scrabble wedding theme is quite popular!

Style My Pretty has another variation of the scrabble tile table number… I love the shabby chic look of this one:

Looking for balloon decorations ideas? From Martha Stewart, check out the fun Balloon Table Numbers / Centerpieces.  Inexpensive and FUN!

Just look at this wonderfully unique table number idea from the wedding co – paper crafted numbers from pages in a book.  LOVE!!  All you need is a alphabet and number template and some books!  (your local library may have some old ones they can donate to you!)

And my FAVORITE for most unique table numbers is this fab photo of ornate mirror table numbers from Style Me Pretty.  You can find great mirrors at estate sales and even stores such as Bed, Bath and Beyond – don’t forget your 20% coupon!

And more today!

First up, from Martha Stewart, Cupcake Paper Flowers!

And another Cupcake Liner Flower tutorial, from Intimate Weddings: They provide terrific step-by-step instructions with photos!

These adorable ric-rac flowers are actually for hair-clips, BUT I think they could be used as floral centerpieces in a variety of ways.  Another great step-by-step tutorial.  And although it shows the use of a sewing machine – fabric glue might work too!  From Oh For Sweetness Sake:

From Style Me Pretty, a lovely DIY Flower Bracelet… that, again, could be used in a variety of ways.  It’s a great tutorial for how to attach flowers (faux or real) to wire stems!

And finally, from Once Wed, an incredibly FAB flower favor box.  I know this is a little outside the realm of “just flowers”, but I couldn’t pass up sharing the lovey tutorial.  It includes the free template for the box as well as instructions (with pics) on how to make and assemble it – beautiful!:

And once again, you can read our OTHER Flower DIY posts HERE.. and HERE… and HERE

Father’s Day Printables and Fun Gift Ideas!

With the end of the school year, and beginning of summer break fun, I am almost always running behind when it comes to Father’s Day.  This year I determined to be ahead of the game, and the kids and I have been looking for fun ideas that will make great gifts for Dad.  In case you need a little help… I’m sharing what we’ve found and liked and ALL all free Father’s Day printables! (except the cupcakes – you have to make those:)

From Nothing But Country, a super fun printable for the Dad that likes A&W root beer. (Our Dad definitely does).  Heck – attach it to any gift; it’s just too cute not to use.

From Tater Tots and Jello, a cute printable DIY project for the Dad who loves golf.  The printables are available in different colors schemes too! The post provides step-by-step instructions that are easy to follow.

Check out these adorable Father’s Day cupcakes from Family Fun – BBQ/Grill theme cupcakes?  Doesn’t get much better than that!  Not only are they easy – but can you image what a fun project this would be for the kids?

And, lastly… another adorable printable from Nothing But Country… you could do BOTH A&W Rootbeer and Rieces Pieces…BTW, craft stores has load of small glass jars and canisters that you can fill with the sweet treats of your choice!

More National Craft Month – Shabby Chic Diva DIY

I am excited to announce that we have begun expanding the Diva Entertains shop to include SHABBY CHIC party and wedding favors!  And because it’s still National Craft Month, and I was looking for fun DIY Diva projects… I decided to see what I could find the in the SHABBY CHIC DIY DIVA category.  I found just a few things (and then some!)

Check out this fun DIY post from the Wedding Chicks, with instructions on making the fun Shabby Chic Place Cards… with thread spools, paper, and lollipop sticks.  Such a simple design!  Perfect for an afternoon tea or shabby chic baby shower.

A huge wedding trend is anything “chalkboard”.  Signs, place cards, wine charms and more! From the b*spoke blog, and crafty girl, comes a quick and easy DIY tutorial on how to make a chalkboard frame.  These would be great for welcoming guests to a party, OR writing a bridal shower menu for all to see, and then handing off the frame/chalkboard as a gift to the bride.  I personally didn’t realize there was a such thing as chalkboard paint but as this tutorial shows – there sure is!

And I found a fabulous tutorial for turning candlesticks into picture frames.  Brittany of the 3 B’s uses her frames for decor for her home, but these could also be used as decorations for a reception or a wedding shower.

Are you into the “shabby chic” look?  Let us know if you have favorite tutorials or ideas we can share!

Diva Crafts for National Craft Month

Did you know that March is National Craft Month?  And I have a few fun tutorials to share, with easy-to-make, FAB “crafts” that will dress up your next event… and/or your home!

First up: Did you even want to learn how to make a pomander ball? Try  This lovely pomander ball tutorial, from Pizzazzerie.  The step by step instructions, with photos, make these gorgeous pomanders achievable by anyone! This craft project might require you to purchase a Martha Stewart paper punch, but it will be totally worth it, I promise!

Next up, a tutorial from beach house in the city on how to paint bottles that look GORGEOUS!  You might get your fingers a tiny bit messy with this one, but again… totally worth it! The blog mentions purchasing the little water containers that stems are often inserted in when giving a bouquet.  These are readily available and very inexpensive at any florist.

Are you planning a fun kiddo candy-related party?  Then you have to check out these super-crafty, super fun GIANT LOLLIPOPS, from Glorious Treats.  Their step-by-step how to make lollipop decorations is very though including where to purchase supplies and how much they cost. I think they would be great in pastel baby colors for a baby shower too!

And I know Valentine’s Day is over, but I think these heart doilies from Martha Stewart would be wonderful at a spring bridal shower.

Will YOU be crafting this month?  Do you have any “Diva” type crafts you can share?  We’d love to hear your comments…
