Mississippi Mud Cake

how to make a mississippi mud cake

I am a huge fan of Mississippi Mud Cakes, Brownies, Bars and Pies.  I love anything that has marshmallow cream in it and topped with the decadent Mississippi Mud icing!  When I came across this picture at Taste of Home I just had to make it the same day!  All I can say is “YUM!”

Caramel Cake – My New Favorite Cake!

how to make a caramel cake

I am absolutely swooning over this cake.  It is 5 star all the way.  And easy….so easy.  Once you make it I guarantee you’ll make it over and over again.

This recipe was mentioned in an Oprah magazine as the best caramel cake ever and I certainly agree.  The recipe comes from Danielle’s Desserts in Washington D.C.  The only thing I changed is I swapped out the whole milk originally called for in the cake recipe with buttermilk.  I almost always do that – it makes a much moister and flavorful cake.

DIY Graduation Ideas

It’s coming… that magical, wonderful day that all students look forward to each May or June… the last day of school!  My kids have literally 26 more school days left before they are done for the year, and you KNOW they are counting them down.  I don’t actually have any graduates this year, but that hasn’t stopped me from pinning and bookmarking lots of fun graduation party ideas.  Here are a few of them!

From the evite blog, graduation confetti throwers – easy, fun, and festive!

Spring Break Activities for Kids

I know a lot of folks (kids) are already enjoying spring break, and many (kids) are looking forward to next week, so they can relax and enjoy a bit of time off.  As a parent of three such kiddos, I have been doing some searching for fun spring break activities, that won’t break the bank… and that won’t cause TOO big of a mess! (Because really, I don’t want to be cleaning up messes on our week OFF).  Sharing what I’ve found so far…

From SheKnows.com, a great post with four craft project ideas… but I especially like this yarn butterfly DIY project.  They are all easy and fun spring break activities!

From The 36th Avenue, a tutorial on how to make paper bead bracelets – my daughter is going to be making a TON of these, I’m sure!  I love that it doesn’t require a lot of supplies, and I can even recycle some old magazines!

From Parents.com, a very simple craft that can then be turned into a game that can be played (and played and played some more)… magnetic fishing game craft!

From BHG, check out these adorable lightbulb sheep – so stinkin’ cute, and you aren’t really limited to just sheep… birds, dogs, cats… the only limit is your child’s imagination! There are actually 20 Easter crafts to make – check them out by scrolling through the pictures.

And from Martha Stewart, a project that includes some learning AND long-term fun!  Eggshell flowerpots – a perfect after-Easter activity!

Purses and Bags and Totes, oh my!

If you are planning a bachelorette party or birthday party or.. well, any get together where women are involved, you can bet that a “purse” theme would go over BIG!  I’ve got some fun and fab ideas that all include purses in one way or another!

First, from one of our recent customers, we received this fabulous photo of our Cork Purse Centerpiece.  They used these at a bachelorette party, and our customer’s note said, “Over 100 guests (all women) admired the purse cork cages!”

From Parenting.com, an adorable how to make a Purse Cake tutorial that could also be “glammed” up, with rhinestones, edible glitter, and more.  The flowers are made by cutting marshmallows up, the zipper are M & Ms, and the handle is a Tootsie Roll.  So clever!

From Hand Stamped by Lacey, some adorable purse party favors, with some ideas and suggestions on how she made them:

From Expressions by Devin, a cute variation of cupcake toppers – PURSES on top of the cupcake:

And not toot our own horn (again) or anything, but you really MUST check out all the favors in the Diva Entertains Purse Favors section.
