Spring Break Activities for Kids

I know a lot of folks (kids) are already enjoying spring break, and many (kids) are looking forward to next week, so they can relax and enjoy a bit of time off.  As a parent of three such kiddos, I have been doing some searching for fun spring break activities, that won’t break the bank… and that won’t cause TOO big of a mess! (Because really, I don’t want to be cleaning up messes on our week OFF).  Sharing what I’ve found so far…

From SheKnows.com, a great post with four craft project ideas… but I especially like this yarn butterfly DIY project.  They are all easy and fun spring break activities!

From The 36th Avenue, a tutorial on how to make paper bead bracelets – my daughter is going to be making a TON of these, I’m sure!  I love that it doesn’t require a lot of supplies, and I can even recycle some old magazines!

From Parents.com, a very simple craft that can then be turned into a game that can be played (and played and played some more)… magnetic fishing game craft!

From BHG, check out these adorable lightbulb sheep – so stinkin’ cute, and you aren’t really limited to just sheep… birds, dogs, cats… the only limit is your child’s imagination! There are actually 20 Easter crafts to make – check them out by scrolling through the pictures.

And from Martha Stewart, a project that includes some learning AND long-term fun!  Eggshell flowerpots – a perfect after-Easter activity!

Easter Crafts for KIDS!

We talked about some fun DIY Easter projects last week, but today’s post is a little more “kid-friendly” with ideas your kids can enjoy and help with!

First, from Parenting.com, check out these fab chalkboard Easter eggs!  You may have to do the chalk painting, but the kids can have at ’em after that! Make sure you scroll through the pictures in the posts – there are actually 12 easy Easter crafts for kids!

Also from Parenting.com, adorable… A.DOR.A.BLE clothespin bunny rabbits.

Now, this one might be for AFTER Easter with your leftover plastic eggs… or not… but check out these Easter Egg Maracas, from Made:

And from First Palette, some Bunny Mask Printables.  They provide them in different colors, AND one you can print and your kids can color themselves!

More Valentine DIY and Fun For KIDS!

If you missed it, here is the first post we wrote with DIY Valentine’s Day Projects… and I’m back again today with another round of fun ideas!  I have three kiddos with classrooms full of friends, so it’s never too early to get started on the Valentine’s Day making!  Today’s post is dedicated to KIDS’ DIY for Valentine’s Day!

First, from Repeat Crafter Me, check out these adorable Monster Push Pops!  You can bet my boys will want to make some of these – they are cute, but yet “scary” enough to pass for acceptable Valentine’s for boys.  This easy valentine crafts for kids (preschoolers too) needs just a little help from an adult.  Printables and instructions are found in Repeat Crafter Me’s post!

From Mom on Time Out comes the perfect Valentine’s Day idea for our “little” divas… Bring on the Bling Valentine Rings!

From Dandee Designs, comes a great idea for the older kiddos – friendship bracelet valentines!  THIS LINK shows you how they turned the friendship bracelets into Valentines, and includes a FREE download to use.  You can use THIS LINK or THIS LINK to learn how to MAKE a friendship bracelet:

And I have to share a second item from Repeat Crafter Me… because it can be really hard to find fun BOY ideas for Valentine’s Day, and this is just as awesome as the Monster Push Pops shown above…. Check out the Bugs and Kisses Valentines! (includes the printable bag toppers!)

What will you be making with/for your kids to take for Valentine’s Day treats?  We’d love to hear about it!  Leave us a comment, or send an email to char@divaentertains.com

Jungle Parties and Jungle Showers

We love jungle parties – the animal prints, the “wild” animals, loud colors and fun favors – a jungle party theme is perfect for most any young child… and you can’t go wrong with jungle baby showers either!

To get us started, check out the photo inspiration of a jungle baby shower dessert table, from Amy Atlas’ blog:

From Sweetopia, get a FAB tutorial for making jungle animal cookies:

One of our customers recently used animal print treat and favor bags and cardstock to make a fun “banner”.  How cute is this:

Looking for other decoration ideas?  Check out this how to make jungle vines post, from Reading Confetti: Here she uses fabric but felt and paper would also work!

Serving cupcakes?  Check out this great idea for a cupcake stand, from Logan and Kalia’s Blog.  She has instructions (and more detailed photos) in THIS post, about how to change the stand for different themes:

And finally, a super fun idea (for the crafty creatives)… face painting as a party game, from One Charming Party!  (And she includes info about an animal show too!)  Her pictures are so great that you can see easily how to face paint animals!

Other FABULOUS additional animal designs for faces can be found HERE.  If you want to learn how to paint a particular jungle animal go to Google.com/Images and type in what you are looking for.  Ex: Face Paint Giraffe or Face Paint Lion.

Fun Cakes For Kids

Today’s post is just for kids… or parents of kids… or the kids at heart.  I have been “collecting” fun (and incredible) cake ideas for kid parties, and thought I’d share a few with you.

First, from Bird on A Cake – a timely Frankenstein cake/tutorial.  You’ll also want to check out all her cake decorating tutorials – you’ll love her creations!

Now, this next one is labeled as a Groom’s Cake, from Cake Balls… but it could just as easily be a kids’ sports cake too! My guess is that she made chocolate truffles and dipped them in different colored candy coating to make the sports ball. Oreo Truffle Balls would work great for these!

I just LOVE this next cake.. and the tutorial that goes with it!  From Bronnie Bakes, a Very Hungry Caterpillar cake.   You can make your own marshmallow fondant that is easy to work with and taste great!

From Gluesticks, another great tutorial… this time how to make a Cheeseburger Cake.  LOVE it!  She uses marshmallow fondant too!

And finally, from Picture Perfect Cakes… I couldn’t pass up sharing this lego cake picture , since I have two lego obsessed boys in my house.  They would LOVE this cake… but might have a hard time letting me cut it up to eat!

Have you made a fun kids’ cake lately?  Let us know… we’d love to hear about it!
