Thursday Theme – Star Wars

For the next several weeks, I’ll be doing specific theme party posts.. for kids AND adults, mostly for birthdays, but occasionally for weddings too.  How’s that for NOT specific?!  Just trying to keep my options open!

Today’s fun theme is STAR WARS!  I have two boys – almost 8 and almost 11 – and every year when January hits, it’s time for me to start birthday party plans.  BOTH boys (and their daddy) are huge star wars fans.. and it’s inevitable we’ll have SOME kind of Wookie or Jedi  involved in a party.

Kara’s Party Ideas has a FABULOUS post full of Star Wars birthday party ideas, so it’s a great place to start.  And I love all the Star Wars party food and little touches – FUN!

I found a great DIY tutorial for making light saber Star Wars invitations, from Party Ideas By A Pro.  When you click through scroll down for more super fun Star Wars food and desserts!

Another fab post, FULL of great Star Wars party ideas is from Amanda’s Parties to Go:  (be sure to check out the adorable “jedi training” photos!)  She shares lots of fun ideas for Star Wars party games

Make and Takes has even more ideas, WITH links and DIY tips for putting on a star wars party.  My boys would kill for the Death Star Pinata!

And finally… because we love Yoda, I had to include this photo of a Yoda pizza from gearfuse. How fun is this?!

Fun Bowling Party Ideas

Happy New Year (again!)  We are excited about so many of our upcoming blogging posts and giveaways.  2013 is going to be a GREAT year here at Diva Entertains.

To get us started off, I have some great Bowling Party ideas for you!  Bowling parties are really perfect for any age – from little-littles all the way to grown-up kids! (And I’m not sure who likes bumper bowling more… me or my children!)

First, from the Hostess blog, a retro bowling party with a modern twist!  Such FAB ideas to get you inspired.  Her post details everything for this party!:

From vixenMade, an incredible red and white bowling party theme.  She offers great ideas for easy bowling party food (who knew chocolate covered oreos look just like bowling balls!)

I love the simplicity and the ideas from Blonde Designs Blog with her daughter’s bowling party.  She has some great tips for doing something similar!

And, check out this adorable Bowling centerpiece, from Kookie Krums:  The bowling balls were made out of white foam balls that were spray painted.  I think some fun centerpieces could also be made using bowling bags.

Speaking of cookies, we offer Bowling Cookies in the Diva Entertains shop, and here are some photos from a recent customer:

And finally, from Amanda’s Parties To Go, an OUTSTANDING post chock-full of ideas for creating and decorating the perfect Bowling Party.

She sells the entire package of personalized printables here for $29.

And one last fun link!  We have Bowling Grippy Socks in our Diva Entertains shop – check out these FUN favors here!

Farm Parties – for kids of all ages!

Ok, most farm parties are for kids, BUT some of the fabulous party ideas I’ll be showing today COULD be used for adult birthday parties, or even rustic wedding or baby showers!  I’m telling you, these themed parties are getting more and more amazing all the time!

First up, from Aesthetic Nest, a modern farm birthday party that is simply stunning!  With fall and apple picking just around the corner, this is a lovely inspiration!

For a more traditional farm party, check out the 1st birthday party post on the Hostess blog:

And from Kara’s Party ideas, check out this Chic Farm birthday party!  Farm and Chic aren’t usually words that you think of together, but totally pulled this one off!

Now purple is not a color you normally think of when planning a farm party, but check out this fab post from Parties by Kaci.  She totally nailed it!  Make sure you scroll to the end of the post – that’s where all the sources and instructions are!  I love all the little extra touches she did – each makes an impact.

And finally, from Amy Atlas.. a rustic vintage farm party.  You will NOT BELIEVE this party and all the extras that went into it.  And there  are some good descriptions to help with planning your OWN party.

4th of July Dessert Recipes

I realized yesterday that June is basically HALF over already.  (Wait, what??)  And that means I better get a move on with my 4th of July party plans.   SO, I went in search of ways to celebrate and EAT well for 4th of July.   (And I was specifically looking for EASY ideas, because… well, it’s summer, and I don’t want complicated!) Found these terrific 4th of July dessert recipes that I had to share!

From Bakers Royale, check out these adorable EASY Fruit Pops.  I love, love, love the star shapes!

If you are looking for a super cute, super EASY 4th of July patriotic dessert, check out the Red, White and Blue cookie from Get Off Your Tush and Cook:

So, I’m not a fan of the beet and blue potato chips idea in this next tutorial from Martha Stewart, BUT I love the free printable paper cones.  I’m thinking popcorn would be cute in the cones, and maybe even colored popcorn!?

I’ve seen a lot of variations for EASY 4th of July Fruit Kabobs, but my daughter is voting for this recipe from The Frugal Girls.  Why?  Because it has MARSHMALLOWS!  (Bananas would work too, but we love marshmallows around here).

And finally, because I couldn’t help myself, I have one more EASY Fruit and Brownie Kabobs recipe for you.  And this recipe from Simple Organized Living?  Has brownies!  AND Marshmallows. Oh yea, baby!

Is it July yet??
