Spring Break Activities for Kids

I know a lot of folks (kids) are already enjoying spring break, and many (kids) are looking forward to next week, so they can relax and enjoy a bit of time off.  As a parent of three such kiddos, I have been doing some searching for fun spring break activities, that won’t break the bank… and that won’t cause TOO big of a mess! (Because really, I don’t want to be cleaning up messes on our week OFF).  Sharing what I’ve found so far…

From, a great post with four craft project ideas… but I especially like this yarn butterfly DIY project.  They are all easy and fun spring break activities!

From The 36th Avenue, a tutorial on how to make paper bead bracelets – my daughter is going to be making a TON of these, I’m sure!  I love that it doesn’t require a lot of supplies, and I can even recycle some old magazines!

From, a very simple craft that can then be turned into a game that can be played (and played and played some more)… magnetic fishing game craft!

From BHG, check out these adorable lightbulb sheep – so stinkin’ cute, and you aren’t really limited to just sheep… birds, dogs, cats… the only limit is your child’s imagination! There are actually 20 Easter crafts to make – check them out by scrolling through the pictures.

And from Martha Stewart, a project that includes some learning AND long-term fun!  Eggshell flowerpots – a perfect after-Easter activity!

DIY Spring Time Wreaths

It’s been awhile since we had a wreath post, and I think it’s definitely time for a post on beautiful spring wreaths to make – don’t you?

First up, from TwelveOEight, a how to make a burlap wreath for spring– love how simple this is, and how shabby chic!

I’m not sure it gets much easier than the following wreath from Living Locurto.  It’s a 10-minute how to make a napkin wreath tutorial, isn’t it FAB!

From Just Dip It In Chocolate, a  DIY Easter Wreath with Spanish Moss – she warns that it’s  messy to put together, but I love the final result:

From Piccadilly Peddlers, another shabby chic look in her DIY Spring Wreath… LOVE that chevron ribbon!

Will you be making Spring wreaths this year?  We’d love to hear about it!

Spring Baby Shower Ideas

We have another post with Spring Baby Shower ideas HERE, but you can never have enough inspiration, so it’s time for another spring time post, don’t you think?

First, from the Hostess blog, a lovely “Happy Trails” Spring Baby Shower… love the pastel desserts buffet! I just LOVE that ruffled cake, don’t you?  Want to try to make one? Here’s a link to a pretty pink pastel ruffle cake.  It’s a bit of work but the result is gorgeous (it’s pastels on the inside too)!

It doesn’t get more “spring-like” than Peeps, and you have to check out these peeps spring-time bouquets from Simply Living and Loving – perfect for a baby shower centerpiece:

The Hally Household has some lovely ideas for a spring baby shower, and she shows off a fabulous diaper cake, here. You’ll want to read through her post because she shares some great ideas! Also, want instruction on how to make a diaper cake?  This link provides 15 diaper cake tutorials – just click into each one to see how it is done.  GREAT instructions and photos, all step by step.

Fab FREE Friday – Lovely Spring Carnation Printable Tags

It’s that time of year… spring… sunshine… flowers!

And baby showers, and bridal showers, and birthday parties abound!

TODAY, I have a free Friday printable tag for you that could work for any of those occasions. I designed it with spring carnations, in pretty pinks, AND I kept the message generic enough that you COULD use it for more than one kind of party!

These free printable tags are 2 inches round, and come 20 to a sheet.  The download is in a PDF format file.  Just download, print, and then cut.  (We recommend a circle punch, like THIS ONE, but scissors work too!  Punches are lost cost and once you have one you’ll find zillions of reasons to use it)

You can punch a hole and add tags to your party favors with string or ribbon… or use the design as a cupcake topper.  If you decide to print them on STICKER paper, these will make great seals for favor bags or boxes.

Happy Fab Friday!

Spring Flower Cookies

I realized last night that my daughter and I haven’t made any spring COOKIES lately.  You know I had to google and pinterest search for some fun ideas! Here are the results of my search for the perfect Spring Cookie!

From BHG, a very easy sugar cookie idea:  Roll a dough ball in colored sugar. Snip it in half with scissors, then snip each half into three petals. Gently spread the petals apart and lay flat.

Also from BHG, another sugar cookie recipe… for Springtime Flowers:

From Sweet Tooth, a great tutorial for making Flower Pot Cookies:

And finally, from my favorite cookie maker, Sweet Adventures of SugarBelle… gorgeous poppies:
